Tietong Lu
AIA
senior associate
Throughout Tietong’s career, she has participated in various aspects of healthcare design from medical campus master planning to stand-alone ambulatory care or cancer centers to renovations of emergency or surgery departments. While solving operational and programmatic needs, Tietong’s sensitivity toward the users’ experience has led teams to innovative solutions. Throughout her career in healthcare design, she has worked on projects across a diverse range of contexts including Asia, the Middle East, South America, the United States and Europe. With all these projects, she focused on the design for healthcare environments that also meet the specific social and cultural needs of the patients and families they serve, as well as the staff that use them on a daily basis. She developed innovative design solutions with input from all end-users such as doctors, nurses and patients—tailored to their specific healthcare needs and aspirations with a cultural sensitivity. Her approach to design seeks to improve health outcomes and quality of care at the local level and, in a broader sense, contribute to the reduction and future elimination of global health disparities.
Tietong enjoys cooking and exploring new flavors and culinary techniques. She also enjoys spending time traversing new terrain and traveling. She also loves reading detective stories, and her current favorite is the Inspector Montalbano series!
