PROJECT OVERVIEW
For Phase 3 of the ED Modernization project, Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center renovated 7,500 square feet of the former Pediatric Day Hospital on the first floor of the Goryeb Children’s Hospital to be a new Pediatric Emergency Department.
This project provides 18 treatment rooms including four experiential rooms and resuscitation. It also includes an added entrance vestibule and ambulance canopy.
To create a fun and welcoming space for the children, we incorporated color-changing light stencils of animals above patient beds tying in the abstract animal printed wall vinyl in each patient room. The experiential rooms are equipped with large video screens that control sounds and lighting for a calming space for behavioral health and neurodivergent children and teens. Those rooms also include coiling doors that reveals a fully stocked headwall so the rooms can be used for medical patients when needed.
