Carlos Azolas
AIA intl. assoc.
design director, SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Carlos is a passionate designer with 27 years of experience designing a variety of projects ranging from healthcare spaces to private residences across the United States and Chile. After graduating, he co-founded with his wife a research studio to explore kinetic architecture and non-traditional origami structures to create spaces that were not subject to a static history or unalterable future.
Carlos believes that beautiful design is an act of collaboration and discussion founded on concepts and ideas, expressed through diagrams and models, and developed as a team. He likes to push the boundaries of the relationship between space and its inhabitants to find the best solution for each project.
Carlos holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. In his free time, he can be found renovating his upstate house, designing furniture, reading an architectural book, or searching for rare vinyl in vintage stores for his collection.
