Allen R. Kopelson
AIA, PP, CID
Founding Principal
As a Founding Principal of NK Architects, Allen’s primary focus is to ensure that NK exceeds the expectations of its clients, consistently demonstrating his ability to develop long-term relationships and balance the interests of multi-party constituents. With a career focused on design in the areas of healthcare, education and urban redevelopment, Allen is recognized as a leader and friend among his peers. He has served as a trustee and board member for numerous not-for-profit institutions, both in the past and presently, and is often a guest speaker at local and regional conferences.
Allen received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oklahoma and his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from New York University. In 1972 in a proverbial log cabin, Nadaskay Kopelson Architects was founded by Allen Kopelson and Ray Nadaskay. Allen has likened their past partnership to a sailboat—Ray as the keel keeping them on course, and Allen as the sails always reaching for the wind. When he’s not traveling across the George Washington Bridge, Allen spends his leisure time sailing, playing tennis, biking and circumnavigating the globe. He also enjoys opera, music, movies (both old and new) and theatre.
