Insights to Planning and Realizing Your Next Capital Campus Improvement Project
Walter Kneis, Principal, NK Architects and Vincent J. Scozzari, Jr., Executive Vice President, V.J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc., YEN Room 309
With heavy competition, continually rising costs, and potential enrollment challenges, independent schools are more pressed than ever before to stretch their dollars and maximize the impact of their capital and human resources. Whether that means looking at ways to re-think and revitalize existing campus structures, new construction, or both, the road from project inception to ribbon-cutting can be filled with many forks and can be a challenge to navigate, particularly for the uninitiated. In this session, Walter Kneis, Director of NK Architects’ K-12 Education Studio and Vince Scozzari, Executive Vice President of VJ Scozzari & Sons, Inc. General Contractors and Construction Managers, will provide Trustees with an overview of some of the many considerations that they will be faced with when approaching any kind of campus replacement or improvement, offering insights as to critical decisions to be made and how those decisions can ultimately have an impact on the project — for better or for worse. Using examples gleaned from years of experience on numerous independent school campuses, they will provide attendees with an understanding of how their decisions over the life of the project — from inception, through planning, design, bidding, negotiation, and construction — can help best position the project for success.
